“ I guess there are many traditional festivals in your country. What’s the most important one? Why do people celebrate this festival and what do they do? Write and tell me about it”

Có quá nhiều thứ để nói ở chủ đề này. Tết âm luôn là ngày lễ hội lớn nhất, quan trọng nhất ở nước ta. Tại sao chúng ta ăn mừng ngày này? Vì đấy là thời điểm một năm mới bắt đầu, để những đứa con đi làm ăn xa về cùng cha mẹ, để gặp thầy gặp cô, để anh em, bạn bè lâu ngày được ngồi bên nhau chén tạc chén thù, cùng ước mong về một năm mới hạnh phúc.

Làm gì trong những ngày tết? Dọn dẹp, trang trí nhà cửa. Mua sắm quần áo mới. Sửa soạn bữa cơm tất niên, giao thừa. Đi xem pháo hoa, thăm người thân, bạn bè. Đi chùa, đi chơi xuân... Rất nhiều ý tưởng dễ nói.

Dear Joe,

    Long time no see! How have you been these day? I’m going to tell you about the most important traditional festival in Viet Nam. It is certainly the TET holiday. It is around late January or early February, varies on each year.

     We celebrate the first three days of the New Year. The first day of new year marks the beginning of Tet.

    Before TET holiday, we often clean and redecorate our houses, try to pay all our debts or everything we borrowed, buy new clothes for our relatives, buy food and drinks...one of the most important traditional foods for TET  is Chung cake. It is made from sticky rice, bean and pork.

    People usually say “the First Day is Father’s Tet, the Second Day is Mother’s Tet and the Third Day is Teacher’s Tet. During TET, people go to visit their relatives, teachers, friends… People wish each other good luck, good health and good success. They also go to pagodas or temples to pray health, happiness and success for their families.
